We're pleased to announce that extra participant places have been created at the UK’s largest county Jamboree this summer. 

Scouts and Guides will be able to make some noise this jamboree by taking part in African drumming and dancing in the creative zone. With over 30 different drums the jamboree will certainly make its muscial mark of everyone that takes part.

The survival zone will be the choice for any Scouts and Guides interested in starting fires from scratch, hiking, survival skills and first aid.

Oasis will be the place to go to buy soft drinks, hot drinks, tea, coffee, ice cream and a tuck shop full of sweets. The ideal location to grab five minutes to chill before plunging into the next activity.

From puppy love to full blown romances, we get it all at the jamboree. We caught up with Louise and George from the international team at Essex International Jamboree 2008, to hear how their romance blossomed.

There will be ten programme zones at the jamboree challenge, creative, water, survival, faith, culture, eco, enterprise, team and our mystery zone that will be announced soon.

The Jamboree sub camp team will be running an around the world in 80 minutes activity during Essex International Jamboree.

As a part of the facilities team her tractor skills will be handy when ensuring there are no foul smells lingering at the Essex International Jamboree by choosing and enjoying driving the tractors that empty the toilets.

Liz is busy organising for Essex International Jamboree as Deputy Head of Welfare and Deputy Head of Staff Sub Camp. Not only that, but you’ve probably seen here in one of our glamorous orange tees as she was helping us to spread the word this summer.

James Lincoln will be returning to Essex International Jamboree 2012, as team leader for the orange coats, a team of enthusiastic and energetic people that help promote everything in the entertainment area, plus provide their own entertainment and activities for participants during the day. 

Essex International Jamboree sub camp staff are working hard to make sure the programme is full of activities that will keep participants occupied from dawn to dusk.

Today Essex International Jamboree is launching our extra special seasonal competition. We are inviting Groups or individuals from around the world to come up with their own lyrics to the traditional 12 days of Christmas song, but with a camping theme.

The Essex International Jamboree open day will be on Wednesday 22 August 2012. The Open Day is a snapshot of the Jamboree and is open to Rainbows, Brownies, Cubs and Beavers. The booking system will open in spring 2012 so put the date in your diaries and keep your eyes peeled to book in your youngsters.

Plans for next summers Essex International Jamboree entertainment are well underway. So after your favourite milkshake at Soft Rock Café, a little swapping of badges with other Scouts and Guides, and play games with your new friends. Its time to move on to the next venue!

You might think that the availability of toilets due to certain other big events happening that month in London would be a problem next summer! Rest assured it’s all in the planning and the toilets are definitely booked. With only 10 months to go the facilities team is working hard to ensure the site is ready to go. 

Did you know that there is a crèche facility available for staff with children under the age of 10, for only £25! This is a fantastic opportunity for families with young people to join this fantastic event as staff without having to worry about their young people. 

Embracing the Jamboree spirit, participants are being asked to make there own keepsake either at a section meeting or on their own. These will be swapped at the Essex International Jamboree opening ceremony. There's 10 months left to start crafting your Jamboree Friendship Keepsake, what will you make?

We would like to thank everyone for the huge interest and support of the Essex International Jamboree 2012. We have received an amazing response with group applications which means we have provisionally hit the limit of UK participant group applications to the event.
